K-12 School Information.
Colquitt County School System is the sole public system in the county.
This progressive school system is comprised of 1 senior high school,
1 junior high school,1 middle school and 10 elementary schools
plus alternative and special education programs.
Aside from its successful Packers' football program and its fine
arts program, notably its choral program, Colquitt County School System
is known for its fiscal soundness and it's excellence in education.
Even in challenging times, Colquitt County School System continues
to deliver quality. Its forward-thinking administrators have
crafted one of the best educational working environments in
South Georgia. Turnover of staff is low, but our educators aren't
content to coast on their tenure. Through active professional
development, they forge ahead seeking out better strategies
and practices to prepare our children for the world.
In Nov. 2008, the State of Georgia recognized our school system
under Georgia's Single Statewide Accountability System, which
awards schools based on their performance on state curriculum
exams and adequate yearly progress status. Doerun Elementary,
Hamilton Elementary and Norman Park Elementary Schools were
among those in the state recognized as schools with the greatest
gains in scores. Doerun Elementary and Hamilton Elementary
received the Gold Award in the category of greatest gains. Norman
Park Elementary was recognized as a Silver Award winner in the
greatest gains category as well. |
