Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce Seeks Applicants for the 2018-2019 Leadership Colquitt County Program

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce’s Workforce Development Committee is now accepting applications for youth and adults for the 2018-2019 Leadership Colquitt County Program.

This program identifies potential community leaders in both adults and high school students and provides them opportunities to study various community and governmental agencies. Participants will gain leadership and problem solving skills and will explore local community issues through hands-on learning and through a mentor/student relationship. Youth participants selected for the program will be students who will be enrolled as a Junior as of August 2018.

Leadership Colquitt County is a unique opportunity for participants to go “behind the scenes” and learn how our community works. Topics include County/City Government, Judicial System, Education, Social Services, Economic Development, Chamber of Commerce, Agriculture, Tourism, Medical Services, Arts, Local History, Local Industry and more. Activities also include leadership skills training and a trip to the State Capital to meet our elected officials. Employer and teacher support are encouraged due to the time commitment required for class attendance.

Twenty Junior student participants will be accepted into the program through a Selection Committee composed of members of the Leadership Colquitt County Steering Committee. Applicants are required to submit a detailed application and provide one recommendation form. Applications will be available during Open House at Colquitt County High School on Thursday, August 2nd from 3:00-6:00pm. The Chamber will have a table set up near the school store to provide students with more information. Applications will be available for students at the office of Assistant Principal Alicia Hiers, as well as, the Chamber of Commerce. The deadline for submitting student applications will be Monday, August 13th at noon. The applications can be submitted to Ms. Hiers at CCHS or in person at the Chamber of Commerce. Interviews for all student applicants will be held on Wednesday, August 15th and Thursday, August 16th at CCHS. Students will be notified by mail of acceptance into the program by August 24, 2018.
